How I replicated an $86 million project in 57 lines of code
Tait Brown

You may argue about whether or not you replicated the $86M project. You may argue about whether or not this is production ready.

The thing is: it works.

This can be implemented cheaply in a couple of police cars and tested in the wild. If only a couple of stolen cars are detected, resulting in thiefs to be snatched, it may be enough to induce a deterring effect.
