Larry,

My background is in Medical and Technical professional publishing where precision language is necessary and mistakes can kill!

I understand and appreciate somewhat your point about buzz words — BUT — communication is at the core the transfer of ideas or concepts. If modern trendy phrases help people communicate more effectively then that is OK with me.

However, if you are suggesting the word “change” in the place of “Paradigm shift” you missed your own point as improper use of words is a “pet peave” of mine.

Merriam-Webster Definition of paradigm shift. formal. : an important change that happens when the usual way of thinking about or doing something is replaced by a new and different way This discovery will bring about a paradigm shift in our understanding of evolution.

So, it means a “change in thinking” — to use just the word “change” does not communicate effectively.

Again, thanks for the article, but, I believe your real problem is in the way people misuse these phrases — not the phrases themselves.
