We woke up

Beautiful imagery coupled with true words. I think that your poem was wonderfully-written although also sad. But as they say, the truth often hurts.

So; will we just ignore our pain, mask it with work and maybe alcohol or some other such substance when we get home from work? Or will we so something ease the suffering? Not necessarily our own suffering, or that of our friends, but this is not only a time to show our children how we should respond to the suffering of those whose pain we cannot imagine because we’ve never “been” them. Let’s each consider reaching out to those in pain, show that we have more compassion than we do contempt, and somewhere, somehow, make a difference in somebody’s life. Give until it hurts. Simply giving is not enough, whether it be some amount of your time, your money, or maybe even a favored possession that will help someone. Once again; give until it hurts.

Thank you.
