The more I read responses from people on Medium, the more it appears that the common thread among Trump supporters is the idea that “my life was better 8 years ago”.
While that may be true, (I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t either, considering where the US economy was in 2008 vs. 2016) I have yet to hear an example of exactly how Obama was responsible for that. From what I can tell, most supporters talk like Trump in vague generalities and blame any adversity or failures in their life as the fault of the government. They want to watch the White House burn, along with everyone else in America because they can’t keep up with the times.
The irony of all of this is that non-college educated white voters (which is widely regarded is the voter base of trump supporters) and other low-income voters who support Trump are supporting a candidate that has shown no regard for the working class of America in building his “big business”. He is a fraud. He repeatedly does not pay companies that design, construct, and operate his businesses, and gets away with it because those companies can’t afford the lawyer fees to get their payments. This is well documented.
There is no credible argument to be made that Trump will make America great. He will make America suffer. (Except for the super rich, he would never make himself or his business suffer).
Essentially this is the message that Trump supporters are sending: I’m upset. I am not happy with my life. It’s not my fault. It’s the governments fault and I want to watch the country burn.
