It is ironic that people condemn America for having such terrible policies, and yet this is where more people want to emigrate to, than anywhere else in the world! This is what makes the legal and illegal immigration question such a major one.
It is even more ironic that America is expected by these people, to both let in 3.5 billion people, and provide instant free health care for anyone who needs it. Good luck in Europe, sustaining your generous socialist provisions with no end in sight to the population of two continents coming your way.
Ordinary people in Europe can see the folly of this, and these are the people who Donald Trump is relating to. Ordinary people can also see that insecure borders and an absence of checking the background of migrants, will lead to whole armies of terrorists becoming embedded. Some of the best warnings are coming from “good refugees” who are now saying that “the people we were trying to escape from have come here too”. Good luck with that, too, Europe.
You can’t be generous to the ordinary people of the entire world all at once. Nation-states exist for a reason; they provide examples of evolutionary paths that other nations can choose to follow if something works. No-one was generous to our ancestors, to lift them out of economic non-development. They did it themselves, because of their culture. Some nations, especially in Asia, have learned to emulate this. We do not see masses of Japanese, Koreans, Chinese and South-East Asians attempting to crash through the gates of Europe and America; they are too busy building a modern civil society at home. Other nations have cultures that do not accept universal enlightenment values, and it is wrong to see other reasons for their lack of development.
It is ironic that some vulgar comment Donald Trump made when he was a New-York liberal-social-circles showbiz celebrity, aroused no special comment until he ran for President as a Republican. This vulgarity was normal among the liberal-left; only now are they pursuing a new kind of puritanism which is having far more impact among their own ranks than it is on Trump or any Republicans. Trump seems to have been a genuine “seducer” of willing women, not an abuser or alleged rapist like “liberated” progressive celebrities.
Isn’t it ironic, too, that millions of women worried now about pussy-grabbing immigrants from cultures still steeped in misogyny, are “racists” for daring to have this worry?
I have written elsewhere about the needed reforms to healthcare in the USA; the system is a bad one. But government-run health systems (eg in Canada or Europe) are not held to the same bad-faith standards as activist judges, lawyers, regulators and politicians hold private insurers and hospitals to in the USA. This explains most of the cost difference.
