Dream Bitcoin Foundation Rebrands to Blockchain Foundation Africa

Dream Bitcoin Foundation is pleased to announce a change of name to Blockchain Foundation Africa (BCFA). This name change has been necessitated by the impact and global reach the Blockchain is having on crypto and digital currency. As a Foundation that has a unique focus of propagating the benefits of the blockchain and the various benefits its presents for trade and commerce, especially in developing countries, BCFA believes that the name change is apt in reflecting the present times and dispels the idea that Blockchain is only about Bitcoin.

The name change of the Foundation comes with a specialized and re-iterated focus on proliferating and promoting special causes on the African continent that the Foundation believes will make the most impact.

Since its humble beginnings in 2014, Blockchain Foundation Africa, with the support of global partners, donors, and volunteers, have been on a mission to use the enabling power of cryptocurrency and blockchains to create opportunities for Africa’s teeming youth, with the goal of championing a new wave of doing business on the continent.

This is achieved through the following initiatives

  • Education
  • Advocacy
  • Charity

Education

Since its beginning in 2014, Blockchain Foundation Africa has championed many educational programs with the goal of educating the masses on the Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies. These initiatives were achieved through conferences, seminars, and Forums.

Key amongst these conferences include

  • Annual Blockchain summit which is carried out in selected locations (mainly universities) across Ghana to discuss the future of cryptocurrency and the opportunities it holds for businesses in Ghana and Africa
  • The Digital payments conferences facilitated by Finance Industry stakeholders which saw industry leaders in digital payments come together and proffer solutions about the future of digital. Blockchain Foundation Africa and BTC Ghana were contributors to the event and had a stand where attendees could come and have discussions about payment.
  • There have been several interactions with students from Senior High School and youth from various social organizations with the aim of educating them about cryptocurrency and the impact it is going to have on the global economy in the years to come.

So far, over 5,000 people have been impacted by the work Blockchain Foundation Africa has carried out in the field of education.

Advocacy

Blockchain Foundation Africa believes, cryptocurrency and digital trade is a sure way Africa can open herself to the world in terms of opportunities for young entrepreneurs and small businesses. For many African entrepreneurs, 2 things they have to constantly battle with are

  • How to receive payments globally
  • How to ship their products globally

As it stands, getting payment to a lot of African countries is a challenge. For established businesses that are able to receive payments, the charges are hefty.

Hence Blockchain Foundation Africa believes championing the cause of startups and positioning them as companies that can receive payments globally and have a that competitive edge is extremely important.

The growth in adoption of cryptocurrency as a legitimate and secure way of doing transaction globally will dramatically reduce the barrier to entry of certain business which will lead to more players within the entrepreneurial space and a major side effect for all that is job creation.

Charity

Blockchain Foundation Africa’s charity work over the years has been towards providing quality meals to the homeless.

This special project was initiated 5 years ago and has been one of the most impactful projects created by the Foundation. Through this initiative, over 200 homeless people (mostly physically challenged) has been fed and taken care off especially during holiday periods such as Christmas where they tend to be forgotten.

This initiative has been sustained internally by funds raised by the Foundation and by benevolent donors that appreciate the impact the project is making and are committed to supporting and seeing it succeed.

As Blockchain Foundation Africa ushers in a new image and brand promise, we count on your support, donations, volunteering, and feedback to grow and make the impact we seek to make.
