Alec works in an open plan office. The job is routine, well paid and stable, which in today’s environment is a good enough reason to stay there. It’s an easy job but with a daughter and another on the way he likes that it doesn’t make too many demands on his time. It’s a very social workplace. In fact one of the issues is that work colleges frequently drop by his work cubicle to chat, to the point that sometimes he has to tell them to go away so he can get some work done. He did confess to his wife, Julie, that it was a good problem to have. “I’d much rather have to send people away than being disliked at work”…
