This is an important point, since it is a common problem faced by siblings/nurses when taking care of aging parents. In these situations is important to consider both the elderly opinion/wish and context information - such as health parameters (physical limitations, blood pressure etc), risk evaluation. I believe machine learning could also play a key role in this context, allowing machines/robots to learn whether they should perform an action or not, based on these “inputs”. And possibly kindly explaining to the elderly person why it took such decision.
