Profile of Bernie Sanders

The once no name Independent Senator from Vermont to now being a contending presidential candidate for the Democratic Party Bernie Sanders is turning the political world upside down. He is taking his underdog grassroots campaign and is challenging Hillary Clinton delegate for delegate.

Senator Bernie Sanders, or just plain Bernie to his supporters that he gets by the thousands just to hear him speak. At these rallies they hear him talk about his ideas to make America a better place to live in. From raising the minimum wage, or making college more affordable. They come up with catch phrases that get him trending on Twitter. Such as feel the Bern, or BirdieSanders. They hang on every word that he says especially the word HUGE. They probably hang on the word huge, because that is what his ideas are. Even if the people do not believe that these ideas are possible they are still huge. From wanting to raise the minimum wage to 15 dollars per hour, and to making college free, so anybody can have an education who desires one. People say these are unrealistic, but Bernie Sanders just says that they are possible.

Before all of these big rallies and debates with former secretary of the state Hillary Clinton Bernie was the first independent elected to congress in a really long time. His older brother had a strong influence on him getting into politics. When he had to baby sit little Bernie Sanders he would drag him to young Democrats meetings. In their household they didn’t have many books. His brother brought them in, and exposed him to different types of knowledge. His love for books only expanded as he went off to the University of Chicago. Where course work did not keep his interest instead reading books did. Accept ones that he was required to read. He would read everything from Lincoln to Freud, and everything in the middle.

Some people find it strange that a one time Independent is now a contending candidate for the Democratic Party, but not long time supporter Phil Albo. Mr. Albo who has been a supporter of Bernie before he was even a presidential candidate believes that Bernie Sanders is not just a politician, but a crusader. When asked why he has supported Bernie Sanders for so long. Mr. Albo said, “He’s. always against big government, and stood up for the less fortunate.” The way Bernie Sanders has gone through this campaign some have comped him to Robin Hood. The way he wants big business to pay higher taxes on the amount that they are. making. Bernie Sanders is worried about having to bail out the banks that are supposedly too big to fail, and thinks that congress does not regulate Wall Street. Wall Street regulates Congress.

“The party really doesn’t have a candidate that we officially support.” This is what former Intern at the Democratic office in Reno Nevada Maci Ware says. Even though on popular Liberal networks Bernie Sanders is getting put down for every move he makes. As well as being told that the stuff he is saying isn’t true, and will never be able to workout. The Democrats believe that they will support whoever the candidate is that gets elected from the Democratic Party. “The plan, as always, when it comes to the presidency is to support whoever the party decides to nominate and do whatever possible to help them win the election” With this being said the Democrats would not mind supporting Bernie Sanders, but Hillary is their prefer choice. As said by intern Maci Ware. “I think, the establishment would prefer Hilary Clinton, because she has more experience than Bernie Sanders, as she’s been Secretary of the State, Senator, and a close advisor to her husband during his presidency.” People talking about Bernie Sanders lack of experience is nothing new for him. This is a constant thing to hear from people of the Democratic Party, and tempted voters as well. If Bernie was able to pull off winning the Democratic election than this will also be something that he hears from his Republican opponent.

A big thing that Bernie Sanders is known for in this campaign is not having a Super-Pac like other candidates. He is fueling his campaign off of donations less than fifty dollars. “It makes it so big companies have a larger voice than a few small ones.” This is what former lobbyist and now business man Ben Griffith had to say when asked why Candidates are given money from Super-Pacs. Bernie Sanders wants everybody to have a fair advantage By him going Super-Pac free it gives him a disadvantage in the election, however that is a sacrifice he is willing to make.

Bernie Sanders may be just a politician riding a magical carpet through the political system and landing where ever the final thread tears, but he is enjoying every minute. From people coming in the thousands to hear him speak or to arguing with Hillary Clinton during the debates it sure feels like at times he is the chosen one. He may not win the election and become the forty fifth president. That probably will be destined for somebody else. However he is changing the way people think. From the perspective of big business or to whom the politicians are receiving money from. People now care. Bernie Sanders may not get enough delegates, but he will get enough people wanting more from their candidates than they are getting now.
