Another podcast recommendation.

On Being with Krista Tippett is a podcast that discusses issues of faith within the broader scope of society and culture. On January 1 of this new year they released an episode called “Embracing Our Enemies and Our Suffering”. The episode features two Buddhist teachers and focuses much on the idea that forgiveness and love for our enemies is, in fact, a brave and active process.

Every day in our world, terrible tragedies occur. People are hurt and killed and in all too many of these tragedies, other people are too blame. It is often too easy, in these cases, to blame not only the perpetrators, but the group that we associate them with. This can lead us to hate, hurt, and ostracize others. What if the stronger thing to do is to forgive and to offer love? What if that love does not mean passively allowing more tragedies to occur?

Listen and find out what this sort of love looks like. It may surprise you.
