Thanks for writing. On the whole it was an entertaining read. My critique, however, is that in relationships, as in architecture, form follows function. It isn’t just superficial furniture that is your problem. It is a superficial life. Thus, this story, while beginning with an interesting premise, winds up becoming thin. The “function” of your life together is wedlock and spiritual union; the form (and the furniture which decorates your lives together) serves to uphold this ancient mystery. Were you covenanted with your husband in holy matrimony, and not just his (or her?) “partner,” it would be not merely a tale of a“Rip off” or a “fiasco,” but one humorous chapter in the long journey of learning how to live life together, to the glory of God.
