Why Snapchat Makes Weddings 10x Better

My wedding day was the happiest day of my life. I married the love of my life after dating for nearly 8 years and enjoyed the moment with friends and family from around the country. It was truly incredible.

The day after was surreal. Everything went by so fast from the ceremony to the first dance to cutting the wedding cake. I reflected in my head, “Did that all really happen? Having friends and family from all walks of life? The amazing best man speech? My mother-in-law’s dance moves?” The photographer and videographer captured all those moments, but those would not be ready for several weeks. And my wife and I didn’t really have time to take any photos.

So the day after we turned to Snapchat and our custom wedding filter (which made every snap more special).

We watched all the bridesmaids stories of getting their hair done and making goofy faces. We watched all the groomsmen joking around and getting all dressed up in tuxes (maybe a tequila shot or two). We watched the entrance of the beautiful bride (maybe cried a little).

We watched the kiss (a couple times). And kissed again. We watched the cocktail hour (that we missed while taking photos).

We watched the bridesmaids being introduced and running into the reception. We watched groomsmen dance their way in for their introduction (to “Big Rings” by Drake).

We watched the first dance. The father-daughter dance. The mother-son dance. We watched the craziness of the dance floor. We watched uncles get low and aunts “wobble” (a lot).

We watched the cutting of the cake. We watched photo booth silliness. We watched beers be cheered. We watched wine glasses be clinked together.

We watched the send-off. We watched one last kiss. And kissed again.

We watched each person’s perspective.

We watched authentic, raw moments.

We watched smiles. We watched crying. We watched happiness. We watched joy. We watched love.

All through Snapchat.

And now with Snapchat’s new Memories feature, we can easily relive our big day. I’ve asked our guests to create a story of their saved snaps from our wedding, and to send them over email. We can’t wait to watch them again.

For anyone getting married soon or celebrating a major life event, a custom Snapchat filter is totally worth it. After experiencing it, I even started my own business to provide people with personalized and unique filters. If you’re interested, check out Solid Snaps.
