Why Having Difficult Chats Is Really Tough And Horrible (But Worth It)

We're about to dive into the world of difficult chats.

Those conversations have us practising in front of a bathroom mirror, bargaining for courage, and sweating more than a sinner in an unforgiving church.

The Habit of Gritting Teeth

First off, let's be real: Nobody wakes up in the morning, stretches, yawns, and says, "Ahh, I can't wait to have that gut-wrenching talk with Karen about her chronic lateness!"

It's just not natural.

After all, we're hardwired to avoid conflict like it's the last slice of pizza at a party no one wants to be the "greedy one" to take.

But why is it so darn uncomfortable? Simple.

We’re social creatures, and our brains are like squishy balls of empathy and worry.

We don't want to be the bad guy, the bearer of bad news, or the dream crusher who says, "No, Stefan, karaoke Thursdays are not doing wonders for team morale."

Yes, Stefan was my P.A. There was no sense of the room, even on Fridays.
