Google today announced ambitious plans to close more than 100,000 web services within the next 5 years. A spokesperson explained, “The public looks to us for new web services that will be closed. No other company closes web services at the scale that we do and we plan on ramping that up in the coming years. If you’re looking for a new web service that will be closed, Google will provide that service for you. We are a one-stop-shop for closing web services. The range of web services we’ll be closing is unparalleled and we’ll continue doing that.” Wall Street reacted with cautious optimism.
