I can never get used to the name refrigerator

I can never get used to the name refrigerator. To me, it will always be the icebox. As a child, I used to love to listen to 78 rpm records on my family’s Victrola gramophone player. Our television was small and black and white. (Honest!) Every morning I woke up early to tend to our family’s herd of metaphors. I’d coral those metaphors and show them who was boss. Then I fixed myself a sandwich from the icebox and put on a 78 rpm record onto the gramophone. On weekends, my friends and I would pay 25 cents to go see a motion picture. It was usually a cowboy motion picture. Afterwards, my friends and I would dress up as satirists and make fun of children dressing up as satirists.

And then I started writing for the web.
