Thanks for this Susan. Learning out loud :-). At first, I totally saw the point of your emailer — replacing fighting the old, with paving the new etc. However in this case, I actually think your point is very salient… That actually “finding more joy in the workplace” aligns with the paradigm “fighting the old” — as it puts all the responsibility on the employee to be able to be happy or find happiness. Whereas your intention of trying to “end suffering in the workplace”, to me, speaks of changing the infrastructure, social norms and culture — and thus paving the new. I hope that makes sense. I’m always up for hacking communication and language with ya ;-)
