The Melitta name is synonymous with fine pour-over coffee, and has been for over 100 years.

Melitta Bentz, the brand’s innovative founder, revolutionized the world of coffee in 1908 when she took a brass pot from her kitchen, punched holes in it and used a piece of paper from her son’s notebook to create the very first Pour-Over™ — the precursor to the modern day Pour-Over™.

Now, with over a century of experience behind them, Melitta has introduced their new Signature Pour-Over line for coffee connoisseurs everywhere. While the brewing process is still three-step simple, the new brewers offer great new advantages.

Continue using the #4 coffee filters that have become the go-to size for years.

The new brewers are available in both porcelain and plastic models. I didn’t have the opportunity to try the porcelain models, but I’ve been using the plastic one for a few weeks now, and I just love it.

It’s made of shatter-resistant copolyester and is BPA-free. One of the best features is that you can place it in the top rack of your dishwasher when you’re done and you don’t have to worry about it clouding up like so many other plastic products.

A ring under the brewer fits most standard size cups, preventing it from shifting when pouring. Two openings (one on either side) enable you to see the coffee level in the cup and prevents from overpouring.

Raised ridges on all sides keep the filters from adhering to the walls of the brewer, enabling the coffee to flow through all the grounds and into your cup.

The new plastic Signature Series Pour-Over Coffeemakers come in 1 cup size — either clear or translucent red in color and are priced at $17.99.

While you are at their site — be sure to consider their selection of coffees as well. They not only carry the ground coffee you’ll need for your pour-over brewer, they also sell it in pods and K-cups, as well as whole bean. We’ve tried both the Classic Blend and the Hazelnut Crème, enjoying both immensely.

You can check out their complete line of pour-over models here.

Disclosure: We were provided with Melitta coffee and their new brewer so we could complete this review, but, as always, opinions are strictly our own.
