Two Wheel Gear — Pannier Backpack Convertible Black is at home on-or-off the bike
Warm weather just beckons us to grab our bike and ride to work; but what to take? Hmmm. A back pack would solve the equation, but on a warm day, who wants to wear a backpack as you ride? How about if we could attach it to our bike rack? How about if we had a Two Wheel Gear — Pannier Backpack Convertible Black?
A Pannier Backpack?
Two Wheel Gear is all about designing great gear for bikers and developed just the answer — the pannier bag that securely fastens to our bike rack while we are riding, but instantly and easily unhooks and converts to a backpack when we are off the bike.
The secret sauce with this bag is the fold down portion on the back of the bag that reveals two hooks meant to securely fasten it to our bike rack. The other half of the equation is the bottom buckle for each backpack strap that hook together to keep it from bouncing loose while on rough terrain. Inside this fold down portion is where the backpack straps conceal when using it as a pannier bag.
The pack slips onto the rack in just seconds with its two curved hooks. A spin out attachment device in the middle then spins around, locking it in place. Just for security sake though, the aforementioned two quick release buckles connect around the rack post, keeping the bottom from swinging around. The whole process takes less than 60 seconds.
In case of rain, the Pannier Backpack comes with a bright yellow, waterproof rain hood that stores in the front pocket; but slips on quickly and attaches with an elastic pull cord. A TPE waterproof backing on 600D polyester keeps the back of the bag dry where it faces the wheel.
Inside, the rear of the bag houses a 15” laptop in a padded compartment and has a soft padded pocket for your smartphone.
The portion of the backpack that holds your laptop will also accommodate about a 4” thick stack of books, binders, tablets, etc. This portion has a double zipper, with large enough pulls that you can lock them together, securing your gear. Inside this section, you’ll also find two great zippered pockets for all your loose chargers, keys, etc.
Other features l like include two expandable water bottle holders, large enough for my 20-ounce stainless steel coffee mug; and highly reflective tape strips for night riding.
