Here I Stand

I am standing at the crossroads alone and scared-
Leaving behind the life we once shared;
Nothing is the same,
Everything is dark and lonely.
Your memories in my heart
Tears stinging my cheeks
Here I stand — afraid to go on.

In that moment we stood at my door
The world grew silent and we finally knew;
I am no longer a single mom but a family with you.
Our life wasn’t filled with everything
But we had all the little things so precious and true
That I cling to as reminders of you.

I am standing at the crossroads alone and scared -
Leaving behind the life we once shared;
Nothing is the same,
Everything is dark and lonely.
Your memories in my heart
Tears stinging my cheeks
Here I stand — afraid to go on.

Life delivers us many different lessons and
Together we carried on sheltering each other;
A love so strong we weathered each Storm.
From that first day, something so special was borne
A heavenly gift not everyone is allowed.
Now I enter the storm brought on by losing you.

I stand here — lonely and scared
How can I go on without you standing next to me?
Forced to leave behind the life we once shared,
Standing at the crossroads dark and lonely -
I still feel your love but no arms to protect me
just our memories in my heart
tears stinging my cheeks
I stand here…
Oh Here I stand
Lonely and scared
But I must go on.
