A New Journey Begins…

My technology career has been pretty varied, and I’ve been fortunate to work with several different companies in order to achieve quite varied goals. I’ve also been fortunate to be able to work as a freelance consultant for the last seven years (has it really been that long? My, how time flies), and as such I’ve been able to meet lots of great people, and work on interesting projects. Most of my work has been with mobile hybrid apps, which entails using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. Needless to say, there has been one constant throughout all my work: change. Whether that was a change in employment, technologies, or just keeping up with the ever changing JavaScript landscape, change has been a constant factor.
I mean seriously — I started on a Commodore 64. Look where computing technology is at now. That’s a lot of change!
A couple of months back, a friend forwarded me a job posting at Adobe and mentioned that I might be a good fit for the position (To that friend: thank you, thank you, thank you!). I applied, and proceeded through the interviews that came after (everyone was absolutely wonderful). And then, a couple weeks back, I received an official offer! I looked everything over, and I accepted the offer.
August 21st will be my first day of employment at Adobe®.
I’m now working through the relocation process. I currently live in southern Illinois, but will be moving to New York City in a few weeks. I’ve only visited the East Coast in passing, so I’m sure there will be a bit of adjustment (most of my life has been spent in the Midwest). There will, of course, be the requisite apartment hunting, acclimatization, and I plan on blogging about those experiences — so hopefully you’ll see some of those posts in the near future. If you have any suggestions on anything NYC, I’d love to hear them!
I’m looking forward to this new opportunity and phase of my career, and am excited to find out where this journey will take me. I know I can’t wait to find out.
As much as some things change, some things will stay the same. I still plan on blogging about JavaScript, mobile hybrid app development (with Apache Cordova™ / Adobe PhoneGap™), etc., so you should continue to see those kinds of posts here… just interspersed with stuff about moving to NYC and getting adjusted!
So, without further ado, the obligatory disclaimer: Everything on this blog (and Twitter, Facebook, etc.) are my opinions only, and shouldn’t be taken as the opinions or beliefs of my employer.
