I imagine you had a bright vision of what serving in the IDF is like. The truth is they don’t need you. At all. Your presence there (any non-combatant from abroad really) is more of a burden, tolerated by the army only so that jews abroad could feel better about themselves coming here, hoping that they would later promote Israel abroad.

So you shouldn’t feel bad about leaving the service, and I suggest you do just that for everyone’s sake. It won’t get better, the army is a strict system and it sucks all the way. People tend to bend and get used to it over the course of a few years, bonding with people going through the same experiences as them. But since you’re likely to have 6 months you wont even get to experience that.
