Sitting In the Nurse’s Chair

I wonder: were those inside the room trying to deny the world outside it, or simply trying to ignore it? And do they need to ignore it periodically in order to get things done, or maybe just to make it through the day?

On the other hand, while I only spent a day-and-a-half being an in-patient, I can still say with confidence that I got a lot more benefit from interacting with the other patients than I did from any of the staff.
