firearms: a personal relationship list

  • i have a tattoo of a broken ak-47 rifle on my leg, just above the word “paix”, that sums things up quite well
  • i have shot/fired guns, and never found any joy in the action. the sound and feel is tangible anxiety.
  • my parents own guns, and target shoot them regularly. they claim to be safer for it. they live in the middle of noplace Idaho, where nothing unsafe has happened for 600 years, apart from some “hunting accidents”.
  • As of December 23, a total of 12,942 people had been killed in the United States in 2015 in a gun homicide, unintentional shooting, or murder/suicide. http://bit.ly/25S5m4X
  • a person once pointed a gun at my face, telling me to “get the fuck out of my town”. i believe the word “faggot” may have been someplace in there. i left.
  • One of the presidential candidates in the U.S. just threatened the other with gun-violence, and absolutely nothing was done about it.
  • as a hadalpelagically depressed teen i stuck a loaded gun in my mouth on occasion. i recall advice that the chin is more of a guarantee. some of the family’s hunting rifles were stored in my bedroom closet.
  • I am happily moving to a country where gun ownership is illegal, save one hunting rifle, and hunting requires regular and extensive training, licensing, and background checks.
  • I don’t believe we need stricter gun laws. That often augments the power of those who do have guns. What we need is to have no guns at all.
  • Last night I woke to roughly 10 shots fired, from what sounded like 2 different guns. I live in NE Portland, Oregon. i hope no one was hit.
  • Solution to gun related violence and accidents: meltdown all weapons and turn them into playground sets.
