Personally, I’d love to see more work in understanding how design intersects with unexpected disciplines: not just anthropology, programming, and business, but politics, social work, geography, even urban planning. It’s essential for designers who aim to address problems on and off the screen.

I also appreciate your theory of change; I agree that personal mindset change is essential for adding value to our world. I’m actually a fan of learning from, and adopting, many theories of change towards systemic impact.
In the evaluation world, there’s a field called Empowerment Evaluation that works to develop metrics, methods, systems, and institutions that focus specifically on developing evaluation from the stakeholders involved in the process. There isn’t enough discussion about how these two fields can learn from each other.
