I’ve been in countless WhatsApp group chats with family, friends, and colleagues over the years. While these chats are often lively and engaging, they can also become overwhelming when the number of unread messages starts to pile up. I’ve had days where I’ve opened the app and been greeted with hundreds of unread messages across several groups. The idea of reading through all of them has always been overwhelming for me.

That’s why I was excited to discover ChatGPT — Summarize Everything, a Chrome extension that uses OpenAI’s GPT language model to summarize web pages. The extension is incredibly easy to use — simply highlight the text you want to be summarized, click on the extension button, and wait for the output to be displayed.

After testing the extension on some random websites, I tried it on WhatsApp Desktop to summarize unread messages. So far, it has been a game-changer for me. Instead of spending time reading through long conversations, I can now get an overview of the most important points in a matter of seconds. This has not only saved me time but has also helped me stay on top of my messages and respond more quickly when needed.
