Life in more than one language

Having learned English at the level of fluency has brought new perspectives to my life. I have been able to communicate with more people, read more books and articles; but more than that, I’ve learned to interpret life in two different ways.

My mother tongue is Spanish, and when I think and speak in this language I tend feel more passionate and experience a wider range of emotions. When I speak and think in English, I get good at describing and analyzing life, my English side enjoys the details and the explanations, but in a more restricted or sometimes phlegmatic manner.

At the end of the day, my soul enjoys the journey lived in both languages, for both bring the same zest for life with emotions and descriptions, full of energy or looking from a distance, both make me feel buoyant and connected. I live, love and write in English and in Spanish: no translation needed.
