*All of the data in this post is based on MBTI Manual Supplement and a Youtube channel called Frank James (I really like his channel, go check it out if you have time and want to know more about MBTI). These numbers are considered to be newest, most updated data taken from surveys conducted by the Myers-Briggs company in 2018 so if you see a source saying INFJ is the rarest type, that source is probably based on numbers from the 2000s and pretty much not reliable any more.

Before we start, I want to note that whether INFJ has been unseated by another type or whether your type is no longer as rare, it doesn’t really matter. Honestly, this whole thing surrounding which type is the rarest is overall just marketing from websites, Youtube channels to whatever. It doesn’t mean a type is more special than another, it just means this is the result many people get after taking this particular test. So take this for what it is, types and ranking that can change arbitrarily at any time.

Also, this post is not an intro to a whole section on the 16 personality types. There will probably be 2 to 4 more posts on this topic but they’re all to support the bigger content pillar revealed at the end of this week.

Okay so you guys have been waiting for long enough, here is the ranking:

*Introverts VS Extroverts: 61.2% VS 38.8%

→ More people are identifying themselves as Introverts nowadays compared to the old data.

*S (sensing) types VS N (intuition) types: 68.5% VS 31.5%

→ Sensing types like to look at the facts and what is observable, improvable.

→ Intuition types look at the broader concepts and the overview of generally what’s going on, the big picture.

*F (feeling) types VS T (thinking) types: 47.9% VS 52.1%

→ These two types show how we make decisions: thinking logically or feeling based on values and emotions.

→ There has been a huge swing compared to the old data here, from most identifying themselves as feelers to now, as thinkers.

*J (judging) types vs P (perceiving) types: 52.5% VS 47.5%

→ The J types are more planned out, organized and the P types tend to be a bit more spontaneous.

*16 MBTI types ranked from the most prevalent in the population to the least or the most common to the rarest:

  1. ISTJ — 17.6% (previously ranked #3)
  2. ISFJ — 10.6% (previously ranked #1)

  11. INTP — 4.5% (previously ranked #11)
  12. INTJ — 3.1% (previously ranked #14)
  13. ENTP — 3% (previously ranked #12)
  14. INFJ — 2.9% (previously ranked #16) — the % has almost doubled compared to the old data.
  15. ENFJ — 2.3% (previously ranked #13)
  16. ENTJ — 1.8% (previously ranked #15 with the same %)
