Hustle Like Your Life Depends on it… Because it Does
Here’s a piece, from my blog, that I wrote back in February of 2015. I hope you all enjoy it!
Hey guys,
It is currently 11:38 pm EST. I was lying in bed and found myself writing this in my head, piece by piece. I’m just thinking about how I love the fact I have positioned myself to succeed. It’s not easy, it takes a lot of work, but it’s happening. I refuse to be one of those people that goes to work every day and hates their job. If the only thing you like about your job is the paycheck, QUIT! Seriously. There is no reason why you should subject yourself to that torture. Do you have a passion? What do you truly love? Gardening? Music? Collectibles? Then why aren’t you trying to monetize that passion? I love marketing. I love Social Media marketing. There is something in me that loves a clever ad campaign that pulls at your emotions so much that you laugh, cry, get angry… And it’s even better if one ad can make you do all three. So I quit my day job, got a job bussing tables at night to pay my bills and started my own marketing consulting business. The point is, you need to make it happen for yourself. I was in Boston last week, Chicago Thursday and NYC next Monday. You have to make moves. HUSTLE. Stay up till 2 am to develop your business. Whatever it takes, you can do it. You have the time you just choose to use it for sleep or even worse, binge watching The Office on Netflix. I love it when people complain about how much money athletes or musicians make. People think, “All they do is play a sport and get paid millions of dollars. That’s not fair.” Do you realize how much time athletes spend working out, practicing, flying from game to game, playing the game and interacting with fans like you? Musicians spend thousands of hours writing, rehearsing, recording, touring, etc… If you’re good at something and you put in THAT kind of time, you deserve the payoff. And there is zero reason why you can’t make it happen for yourself. My boy Anthony moved out to L.A. just chasing his dream and he’s making moves out there. A girl I grew up with in little ‘ol East Longemadow, MA is currently touring the country selling her art work. My brother went to school till he was 30 because he set his sights on getting his Ph.D. and I’m pretty sure he’s the first Dr. in the family. If there is something that keeps you up at night plotting, planning, thinking, I bet you can monetize that passion. If you don’t think so, email me at Dylan@cloud9marketinggroup.com and I’ll convince you otherwise. Really. Free of charge

But seriously people, it’s 2015. How long are you going to hate your job before you take the leap of faith. What’s the worst that could happen? Maybe you lose some money. Maybe you disappoint your family or friends. Guess what, you’ll eventually make the money back and everyone that loves you will forgive you. I debated quitting my job for MONTHS because I didn’t want to disappoint my parents. At the end of the day, they still love me. Besides, half the reason I’m doing all this is to pay off mom’s mortgage anyway. But I digress. Buy this New York Times best selling book. Amazon has it for like $3.00. Read it. Tell me you still think you can’t succeed. I DARE you. There is nothing more rewarding than building something yourself. Make 2015 your year. HUSTLE! If you need marketing help, you know where to find me.
Until next time,
Dyl
