Jon Is a Traitor
While I have a level of pragmatism about the situation, to most cab drivers, Jon is definitely a traitor. When I posted his latest column in a Facebook group for cab drivers in SF, you could just see the spit flying from their mouths as they typed.
Before Uber and Lyft, cab drivers were able to have middle class, sustainable lives. I know many cab drivers who own homes, who’ve put their spouses and children through college and who have traveled the world, all through driving a cab. So to see their livelihoods being destroyed by these unregulated and cutthroat companies is sure to infuriate them and it makes sense that they would take out their anger and frustrations on those drivers willing to participate in what they see as an unfair, corrupt system.
