Uber/Lyft Have Too Much Power

Well, one of my favorite veteran cab drivers, Late Night Larry, only uses two words when he has to end a ride early: ‘You’re out.’ If he doesn’t like your attitude, you’re out. That’s how you deal with it.

Uber and Lyft have too much power over the drivers through the rating system and the computerized way they deal with deactivating drivers. With Uber and Lyft, you will always just be a number in their system. With taxi, there is a review process through the SFMTA.

While the taxi model overtly favors the driver, Uber appears to assign the preponderance of value to the passenger.
