Documentary Film: Cave in the Snow
I watched Cave in the Snow last night, a documentary film based on the book of the same name that tells the story of Tenzin Palmo, a western woman who became a nun in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and spent 12 years in retreat.
Her motivation for speaking around the world is to raise money to create a place where nuns can study and practice. In Tibet, monks were allowed many more opportunities than nuns, and this is still the case mostly, which could be connected to an issue around ordination lineages, but perhaps it’s due overwhelmingly to custom and how women are viewed.
I hope that all those who wish to take the path of renunciation have the support to be practitioners at a high level.
