I’ll Never Pay for Anything Full Price Again

I think the age of paying full price for things is pretty much done. Well, for me anyway. I can honestly say that I have most of the material goodies I want and could not tell you when the last time I’ve paid full price for any of it. Years, at least. I traveled for 3 months through Australia, Canada and the US for what my friend paid for two weeks in Greece. I have all the electronic goodies a video game nerd like me could ask for. As for designer brands, I’m not much of a fashion guy…but my girlfriend is. We’re always having adventures for our dates; doing things like rock climbing, boxing lessons and yoga all for a fraction of the price. Allow me to share some of my frugal wisdom.

Let’s start with flights, since that’s what most people ask me about. It’s very simple: use every trick you’ve ever heard or read. People always ask me about which tip is best for booking cheap flights. Are some real and some just a hoax? No. Use them all. Aim to fly on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday. When booking online, book them on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday as well. Trust me, the website knows. Also, book the tickets in the middle of the night. For some reason prices drop around 2 or 3am. That reminds me, use an incognito browser as well. The algorithm will know if you’ve searched those flights before and will jack up the price. Those are the most valuable tips, but definitely search for others. Then do them all. I book an around the world ticket, traveling through 3 countries across 3 months and saved over $800 after applying these tactics to book.

Tired of spending your hard-earned weekends getting plastered at happy hour on a Friday, then spending 2 days hungover only to heal just in time for work on Monday? Want to do something a little more constructive and exciting with your free time? Groupon. Get it now. Also do a search for free trial memberships in your city. You’d be shocked at how many amazing activities you can do for half price or completely free for a day, week or sometimes a whole month!

Want to kick back at home and watch some Netflix on your big screen with surround sound? Feel like loosing yourself in the newest video game for like a hundred hours? No argument from me there, just don’t pay full price for all that because it can definitely add up. Pre-owned and refurbished are two terms you need to get familiar with. It’s not like it used to be. Nowadays, pre-owned or refurbished electronics are really easy to find with a warranty. Especially if you’re buying from amazon or ebay. I even have a few local shops in my neighborhood who offer a 1 year guarantee on these gadgets.

On to the swag. Are you a fan of designer brands? Fancy running shoes? Jewelry or accessories? Well, once again, look for pre-owned items on ebay. A lot of people forget about eBay nowadays, but it’s become so competitive that any scam or item in bad condition will stick out like sore thumb. On the other hand, quality items will be highly sought after. Look for your designer item and then check out the seller’s profile. You can always tell if this will be money well spent. Also, you can join online groups like this one to receive exclusive deals on designer products.

Hope this helps! Feel free to share your stories on how you save big! Would love to hear from you so you can always message me at pinstripesteve@gmail.com.

Take care and happy spending!
