My mistakes as a non-technical startup founder.

I’ve wasted a year and still can’t ship my product.

I started everything with almost zero programming knowledge.
I’m also the only one in my team who work full-time in this project.
It didn’t work very well, I made a lot of mistakes from this journey,
And these are what I’ve learnt.

  1. Don’t invest your time to develop your PRODUCT, invest your time to build a great TEAM to develop your product.
  2. If you don’t have CTO. Try as much as you can to find him/her. NEVER EVER develop any product without CTO. Sometime it could be worse and make you lose so much time.
  3. While you’re searching for CTO. Learn to SPEAK programming. Knowing their tools and know how its work will make you have more probability to find a good tech guy (and get respect from him/her).
  4. Take user-flow and UX very seriously!!
  5. Communicate with your team EVERYDAY.
  6. Communication skill is crucial, if you don’t have it… learn it!!!
  7. While you’re in developing process, if you feel like you’re free and you don’t know what to do because you can’t code and design by yourself… YOU’RE IN THE WRONG TRACK! … There’re always something you can do to make your startup get better!
  8. It would be nice if you have some source of money while you’re taking startup journey. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
  9. Have a cliff and vesting for equity to every co-founder in a long term period. Clear your conditions to everyone before starting.
  10. You will make mistakes! Be prepare to learn to pick yourself up.

Hope it help : ))
