That’s actually NOT true. Scientists and physicians have long recognized that gender is a social construction that varies across cultures and over time. For example, even on a basic chromosomal level some individuals will be born with a single sex chromosome (45X or 45Y) (sex monosomies) and some with three or more sex chromosomes (47XXX, 47XYY or 47XXY, etc.). There’s a wealth of scientific evidence that gender and sex are far more complicated than a simple XX and XY binary or what type of gonads an individual has. Educate yourself!
