Pixls becomes Pixlton!

It’s a small change, but one that has been in the making for quite some time. Why the holdup? Well… Quite frankly we were dependent on OpenSea changing our collection name accordingly. With them being one of the bigger points of visibility for us we decided to wait. And boy did we wait because it took them approximately 3 months to do so. Obviously, we hoped that it would be done quicker, but we can’t say it wasn’t in the cards given their track record of handling tickets.

Why the rename?

Simply put, the “Pixls” name is simply not uniquely identifying enough. It’s a name that has almost become the de-facto standard when you’re doing something with pixel art in this space, as evidenced by the sheer number of things that have similar naming. The PixlVerse, various PIXL tokens, PixlPets all come to mind. While all great fun in their own right, none of these are in any way affiliated with us.

The original Pixls project was 100% about the characters. The “Pixltonians” as we’ve been slowly rebranding them. However, with the advent of multiple integration points into different metaverses, our focus has shifted to a bigger, overarching narrative world, filled with not only these characters but various locations and other lore. Renaming the project to suit that bigger world makes sense.

So what really changes?

Not an awful lot actually! Here is a quick overview of the changes:

• The collection name on OpenSea has changed, however, the URL has remained the same due to various integration points beyond our control grabbing data from OpenSea. E.g. things like rarity platforms and other services.
• Our Twitter handle has changed from @PixlsOfficial to @PixltonNFT. You don’t have to do anything to migrate along, as we’ve set this up to change seamlessly.
• Our website is now available on a number of different domains: https://getpixls.com https://pixltonnft.com https://talesofpixlton.com

That’s pretty much it! If you still see the term Pixls floating around somewhere, let us know on Discord or Twitter and we’ll try to change it as soon as possible. The little buggers will always be known as Pixls, they’ve earned that much from sticking around for that long. It’s just that the official terms used will change. See you in Pixlton!
