My Sister Had a Baby We Didn’t Keep

This article expresses the humanity of the effort well. But, borders are political. I see that Mia is American. Her parents are Chinese and have no intention of leaving their homeland.

I can’t help but think about a situation where, when older, she might be in the wrong protest and the government does not approve. Could she be deported? I mention this because France and Australia are considering deporting those with dual citizenship that are deemed terrorists.

Also, I had not heard of ‘selective reduction’ and found an opinion piece on Mamamia.com where both the article and reader comments were enlightening. While the technology is there and the surrogacy contracts can be done, it still gives me pause considering the complexity.
