“You can’t even conceive of the idea that someone might think in entirely different ways, without them also being an alien monster that must be purged.”
Dude, what are you trying to do to the way Yonatan thinks? Sounds like you’re painting him as an alien monster that must be purged…
Seriously, you can’t rely on the “you need to accept some people think differently.” Because, 1) If that’s the case, you need to accept the opposite point of veiw and therefore most of your argument falls flat on its face and 2) some points of view can be extremely dangerous and therefore one must tread lightly when deciding what points of view are safe within society. Cult leaders have various points of view that lead a bunch of people to their deaths. Are those points of view and ideas defensible? You are saying they are. You can’t just say the act of being different must be accepted. A serial killer is ‘different.’ You *obviously* have guidelines to what you’ll accept as simply being different. I trust brown-haired people as much as I do blonde-haired people. I won’t trust a stranger as much as I trust my friend. I’ll trust a statement on biology more from a published and well-cited biologist than i would from Ken Ham. Not all opinions are equal and shouldn’t be treated as such. So, when someone makes a statement and science says the entire opposite, no, I won’t accept that opinion.
