Is Confrontation Dead?

“But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong.” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NLT

‬‬ We live in the age of politically correct.

I believe the politically correct spirit of the world has come into the church and caused us to lose an important element of maintaining unity and order in the body of Christ.

Paul recounts an incident that happened with the great apostle Peter where he was compelled to oppose Peter and confront him over wrongdoing.

This verse really cuts against the grain of what many believers think today about confrontation.

The fact that Paul mentioned this in the holy Scriptures means the Holy Spirit directly wanted this confrontation documented. This was not some petty squabble among leaders. This was a divine correction from the Holy Spirit to make sure the hypocrisy of Peter’s leadership was exposed and made right.

I believe, with biblical backing, that there is always a need for confrontation in the body of Christ.

This must be done with great humility and maturity, but nonetheless, it must be done.

Do not listen to voices that would seem to shut the mouths of all who would be used by the Holy Spirit to bring correction and divine order in the body.

Takeaway: confrontation and correction are not necessarily always used. It is definitely something that the Holy Spirit uses from time to time to set things in order.

We must all be open to the correction of the Holy Spirit through the lives of our leaders other believers.

We must also be open to be used by the Holy Spirit to bring correction in the lives of others. This takes great courage but will produce great fruit!
