Kitchen Tables and Placeholder Furniture
Laura Chanoux

THIS! “ I hope I’ll still feel good about seeing it in my apartment, wherever that may be.” With not-quite-good furniture, it matters a lot that it functions AND that you like it. Some of that hex-key particle board stuff may go the distance, and you want to not hate it. My husband is using our 25-year-old former “temporary” kitchen table as a desk. I never dreamed we’d have it that long! The replacement (now age 13) came with chair seats that get grubby easily. What was I thinking? So, before you buy, think, “Could I truly like looking at this for over a decade?” and pay attention to your gut answer.
