The Fallacy of ‘Everyone Should Learn to Code’

Swords > code. Everyone should learn to swords.
But not everyone can or should learn to code. In general there isn’t anything that absolutely everyone should learn to do, except maybe use the toilet. Programming is hard. Becoming a good programmer is hard as hell. The difficulty of doing it well is why companies tend to have rigorous skill tests to evaluate the candidates ability to code.
