And I agree with you. I don’t think I implied in this post that hobbies and passions are mutually exclusive. I assume most people are passionate about their hobbies. The only real difference between a hobby and a vocation is whether you’re paid meaningful income to do it.
What’s important is whether we are multi-passionate or not. Much rhetoric around “passion” is phrased to imply that a person has only one. If that’s the case, I’m obligated to involve skateboarding in my vocation. I would likely be a skateboard photographer, videographer, or blogger. But I don’t want to be the guy documenting and spectating the skateboarding — I just want to skateboard :)
Luckily I generate a good income doing something else I’m passionate about and am privileged to skateboard in my free time.
