Meet the Team: Paulo Caperig — Senior Community Manager
Hello Paulo! Could you please introduce yourself to the community?
Hello everyone! My name is Paulo. I lead our community initiatives at PlanetQuest. I was born and raised in the Philippines. For the past 10 years, I’ve been living in Singapore and love it so far. I was previously a financial consultant, but am now striving to get my Masters in Divinity. My superpowers include smooth-talking and always being positive, so I am really happy to be here and am always looking to help.
A quick icebreaker, what are your top 3 favorite games growing up?
My favorite game of all time has to be DOTA. It’s a love-hate relationship as I’ve been playing for over 10 years now and can’t seem to stop winning games. The second is Recettear, since capitalism and anime go hand in hand. The third is Valorant, an FPS game where most games people seem to know my mother, and perhaps even my sister, if I had one.
Would you like to share a little bit about how we landed in the gaming industry?
I have always loved gaming. I am a firm believer that we are making the shift from Free-to-Play to Play-to-Earn in this industry. This inspired my journey into the P2E space; to finally get involved with something I love — gaming.
I played X-COM when growing up, which left a mark on my love for interplanetary escapades. So for me, PlanetQuest brings in the sci-fi elements of X-COM like exploring different worlds, combined with the fun kick ass element of battling against aliens and other factions, while journeying to obtain rare resources as well.
Can you share more about your journey into the Play-To-Earn industry?
My undergrad was in legal management, which entailed dealing with courts and legal systems. I taught English thereafter before into the banking industry. Last year, I undertook my Masters in Divinity and started learning theology, history, Greek, and Hebrew.
The common theme throughout my career is working with people and building things with them — whether that be in law, ministry, or gaming communities. So that’s how I landed here.
What makes a great community?
A great community enjoys healthy interaction and shares common beliefs and goals. PlanetQuest bridges sci-fi and real-life science, exemplified by our forest planets with lush greens that mimic real-world applications of physics. We have managed to build a great community with shared interests in sci-fi, gaming, and space.
Have you made any observations on cultures forming in the factions?
Certainly! It’s so interesting to see the interplanetary politics unfold — It reminds me of StarCraft. It seems like the Feds are adopting a Terran persona while the Empire have a hint of Zerg or Protoss, with an Adun Toridas posture.
What does your day-to-day look like?
I work alongside our fantastic moderators and ambassadors, including our content creators, and community translators. I check in with them, ensuring the committees are running smoothly, keeping our language channels tidy, and implementing new ways to engage our community. Ultimately, I want every community member to feel comfortable and informed.
I am a passionate community member. How can I get involved?
Check out our ambassador program here. Generally, if you are active, the opportunity will present itself and we are always keen to hear from you guys! Active members are easily recognized as a community builder, are then given opportunities to thrive, and supported by the Universal Council all the way. We have opportunities in several language groups ranging from content creation to moderation.
How do you see the P2E space evolving?
It is still a very new space and there is still a lot of growth to be had. We are truly bridging traditional sci-fi game lovers and play-to-earn gaming, building an amazing cinematic multiverse combining the best of both worlds: complex gameplay, stunning visuals and play-to-earn integrations!
The majority of games are still very simple. There’s still a lot of growth to be had. PlanetQuest stands out from the crowd of click-based and turn-based game mechanics. It is driven by a powerful engine that generates entire planets right in your browser and lets you play on them from a top down shooter perspective. How awesome is that? People will play games that they enjoy playing, including things like the visuals and gameplay loop, rather than merely the earning incentives. PlanetQuest and its community hands down ticks so many boxes and will continue to thrive in this space.
Paulo is often smooth-talking in our community channels. If you haven’t already, come drop a welcome note to him! You can also partake in our decentralized storyline and vote on matters of intergalactic importance which will change the history of the universe.
