Playkey DevLog. Issue 34

Playkey Team

Hi, everyone. In the last issue we talked about that the alpha version of the miner software is ready. Well, now we’re running the final internal tests and getting ready for launch. Only one game will be running on the test computer for now: GTA V. The test rig is built as a desktop, not a server. In other words, there’s no reason you couldn’t built it from off-the-shelf parts. As a reminder, here are the specs.

Also a GeForce GTX 1060 video card

We’re going to try the test rig out in real-world conditions. It’s been added to Playkey’s server farm. Some GTA V players will be sent to it randomly. For the end user, the difference in quality between the server and the desktop won’t be noticeable — that’s the whole point of the technology.

The desktop test rig can easily fit on a desk

We still need to finish the disk update mechanism, and then we’ll be able to move on to the next stage of testing and launch the miner software on several test computers in “live” conditions. That’s what we’re going to be working on for the next three weeks.
