Sometimes, we just want to enjoy our trip without having to worry about the weather. Don’t we all find the best comfort in feeling not too warm, and not too cold? Where are the best places to go with good weather?

Fret not, here are four other countries that have just the right temperature for you to enjoy your getaway! With no need for bulky winter wears or icky sunscreens, you’ll be able to travel light and have a wonderful time at these moderate climatic locations!

Sydney, Australia

December Average Low/High Temperature: 17.9°C/27.4°C

This city needs no introduction. Summer in Sydney is perfect for the great outdoors, whether it is hanging out by the golden beaches, such as Manly Beach, Palm Beach and Bondi Beach, or exploring the hub of waterside life by the massive Darling Harbour and Circular Quay.

Famous for its iconic architecture, such as the distinctive sail-like designed Opera House, Sydney is definitely good-lookin’ day or night. Here’s the proof —

Beyond the concrete jungle, the Sydney Harbour National Park protects large swathes of bushland around the harbour shoreline. Among the greenery, you’ll find scenic lookouts, walking tracks and a handful of historic sites. Talk about concrete-nature balance!

Thinking to escape from the city-life completely? Plan a road trip out to the scenic Blue Mountains or to Jenolan Caves and embrace the beautiful nature Australia has to offer!

You would discover Sydney that has so much more to love: the lively food scene, endless days at the beach, and the beauty of nature parks available in the city. What are you waiting for?

Cusco, Peru

December Average Low/High Temperature: 6°C/21°C

Former capital city of the Inca empire, Cusco is the oldest inhabited city. Being a beautiful location with well preserved colonial architecture, Cusco is one of Peru’s most visited cities.

Cusco generally has two seasons — a rainy one (November — April) and a dry one (May — October), but this doesn’t mean that Cusco would not be suitable for visiting in December. It can still be a pleasant time to visit. But do be warned that there might be afternoon showers! Despite the rain, you should still head towards the popular world heritage site — Machu Picchu located atop the Andes mountains.

Built in the 15th century, Machu Picchu is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. It is an evidence of the urban Inca Empire at the peak of its power and achievement. It is definitely a site not to be missed!

Immerse yourself in nature and breathe in the fresh mountain air!

You could also spend a few days in the city area and experience the hustle and bustle of Cusco. Go ahead and explore museums, stores and enjoy the abundance of cafes and restaurants that cater to all tastes. One museum you will find yourself drawn to would be Plaza de Armas.

This beautiful colonial architectural building is the heart of Cusco, with great restaurants and shops surrounding it. Do not miss it while you’re in the city. Other sacred sites and landmarks you should visit include the church of San Domingo and Coricancha, the La Compania, the Cathedral and the Museo Inka — the best museum for those interested in the Incas!

Cape Town, South Africa

December Average Low/High Temperature: 15°C/25°C

Enjoy the warmth of Cape Town without feeling the literal heat! Despite it being summer there in Cape Town, its weather is fairly moderate and not overwhelmingly warm. It’s a paradise for roaming the many amazing sights and scenes awaiting, especially for travellers headed from winter conditions. That said, December is a peak period in Cape Town. Do expect crowds and hustling.

Be one with Mother Nature by hiking up Table Mountain! Or, if you are a hiker who doesn’t like to hike, go on a cable car adventure up the mountain. Busk in the full glory of Cape Town from a bird’s eye view, minus the sweat and panting. For the slightly more adventurous, make your trip down an especially captivating one by abseiling 112m with Abseil Africa down the great mountain.

Don’t forget to check out Boulder’s Beach for cute, waddling members of the African Penguin Colony. You will see not just one or two or three penguins, but a whopping 3,000 of them! It’s incredible.

For the daredevils, you can even take the whole wildlife experience to the next level by diving into South African waters for a swim with the sharks. As the white shark capital of the world, shark cage diving is a must-try activity here in Cape Town!

There’s simply too much that Cape Town can offer. Gastronomic food, bustling nightlife and great beaches alongside a vibrant arts scene and culture — it’s definitely the destination for a year-end vacation.

The cherry on the cake? 5 star hotels at the price of a local inn. Yes, you read that right.

Indeed, the only thing seemingly good that came out of the country’s economic crisis has to be the perpetual 50% sales for travellers. There is simply no better, or cheaper, time than in 2016 to visit the beautiful Cape Town — and help spur the South African economy while you’re at it.

To have your cake and eat it too: why wait any longer?
