Completely understand now — Medium vs. Word in the context of the publishing aspect in that MS used to tell everyone that Word was a great tool as an entry point to publishing (in HTML or otherwise). In this sense, Medium definitely is the more powerful of the two. They’ve done an amazing job of making it dead simple to write and publish on.

Word along with plenty of other text editors have focus on just that — editing. Word is super featureful and can help clean up something you’ve written before, and get it ready for publishing. Medium definitely owns the latter end of the interaction and the subsequent interactions with consumers of one’s writing. It’s also a great place to start writing for many writers, although I’m curious how many pieces truly get the full treatment (started, edited and published) in Medium…
