Differences between Microprocessor and Microcontroller

--

Microcontroller and microprocessor are entirely different from each other in terms of hardware architecture and working. The primary difference between the two is Microprocessor consists of only a Central Processing Unit, whereas Microcontroller consists of a CPU, Memory, I/O all integrated into one chip. Microcontrollers are widely used in embedded systems that are dedicated to performing specific tasks, whereas microprocessor-based circuits are for complex system designs. Some popular examples of the microprocessor are Intel core i7, AMD Athlon, Raspberry Pi etc, and some example for microcontrollers are Arduino UNO, STM32, PIC16F877A etc. Read this article to find out more about microprocessors and microcontrollers and how they are different from each other.
