I think it’s more useful for us to go by a title, but then be able to answer the questions “what are we good at?” and “what do we actually do?” — I don’t think a title could capture all of those nuances.
If we look to other professions, such as architects, engineers or lawyers, we see that each title covers a broad spectrum of practices and specialties. Nevertheless, these professionals feel comfortable working under their wide umbrella, despite their internal differences and varieties.
…rk as an industry and not question what the point of it is — yet, I know this happens all the time. We can and should not be delivering tools as outputs unless there is an absolute guarantee that the information and knowledge packaged into that output will be of benefit for a team to drive forward their decision making.
