An innovative example of this is the introduction of PLEN Cube, a compact AI assistant designed to ensure a delightful shopping experience. With just 74 mm in size, this remarkable robot boasts advanced capabilities such as face and voice recognition. Equipped with a facial recognition camera, PLEN Cube can accurately recognize individuals’ features and engage in brief dialogues with customers, extending warm greetings.

Through its facial recognition camera, the Cube has the capability to analyze and distinguish various facial features, enabling it to categorize customers into pre-defined groups based on factors such as age, gender, and other distinctive attributes. Leveraging this classification, the AI assistant can then offer tailored product recommendations to each customer.
Shop owners have the flexibility to define parameters for customer segmentation and curate a list of recommended items for each customer group in advance. By utilizing this functionality, the Cube effectively acts as a knowledgeable virtual assistant, seamlessly guiding customers towards products that align with their preferences and needs.
In 2022, PLEN Robotics introduced two new features to the PLEN Cube, enhancing the shopping experience in unique ways. The first is automated facial payment, which allows users to link their credit card information to their facial data within the Cube. By simply presenting their face to the Cube’s camera, customers can make payments seamlessly and securely, eliminating the need for a physical wallet.
Additionally, PLEN Robotics showcased the Cocktail Server PLEN Cube, which builds upon the facial recognition payment feature. With this innovation, users can order drinks using a tablet. After authenticating their face through the Cube’s camera and confirming credit card information, the Cube communicates with a cocktail machine to prepare the requested drink.
Another entertaining feature added to the PLEN Cube is the “entertainment” mode, which includes a quiz function. When a user stands in front of the Cube, the robot presents a quiz question. To answer, the user selects a tablet with either a correct (〇) or incorrect (X) sign and shows it to the Cube’s camera. If answered correctly, the Cube rewards the user by opening a box containing a surprise.
These remarkable features demonstrate how the compact PLEN Cube can enhance the shopping experience, providing convenient automated payments, personalized drink ordering, and interactive entertainment.
