Your story moved me to tears, having just lost another of our loving dogs.

Over the 41 years of our marriage, we have said goodbye to more dogs than I can count without writing them all down. We’ve had up to four dogs at a time (and 13 cats at one time, but that’s another story).

It never gets any easier. We just lost a sweet pit bull two weeks ago, but Life put another dog into our life 11 days later. He’s everything I didn’t want in a dog at our ages, but here we are. Funny how that works. But I keep calling him by our past dogs’ names :/

The crematorium we use gives us a clip of the dog’s fur and a pawprint. And we scatter all their ashes in the same spot on our property, but one day we will have to sell this house and with it the daily reminder of our past pets.

I love the tangible, holdable pawprint cast your vet gave you. I’d love to have one of those for each of our dogs. And, hey, you still get to give him foot rubs :)
