Ever since I saw Balto as a young human, seeing the aurora borealis was a big dream of mine. It didn’t matter where I could see such beautiful, dancing lights. All I knew is that I’d have to travel for it, and Iceland was at the top of my list. I know there are other destinations, but why Iceland? As the reason for most places I visit, I was just drawn to it. It could be because it’s an “icy” island, and where I come from, the only ice we get is in our soft drinks. Maybe it’s because of…
My goodness, the weather ⛅️ was just right for a night out in May at a food festival with some friends I rarely see. After we made our rounds, I thought a Coke would be nice to top off a successful night of short lines and interesting foods (there was a vendor that served up cakes in the shape of a penis lol).

Sigh. It’s August.
There’s something about it being August that increases my will to be productive/introspective. Maybe it’s because we’re nearing the end of summer. Maybe it’s because we basically only have one quarter left in 2018. Maybe it’s because my birthday is around the corner, and this will be the last year of my 20s :( It seems that the older you get, the faster time flies.
So, as an ode to my “youth” (as if I’m not still young lol) and for anyone interested, below is a rather vague rose-thorn-bud reflection of those years.
I try not to forget to stop and smell the roses.
